Today the entire school gathered in the Middle
School gym to celebrate and honor the legacy of Dr. King. We heard a personal
speech from eighth grade speaker Camilla Schreiber, followed by a talk from
Calvert parent and keynote speaker Dr. Kay Whitehead. Fifth age teacher Mrs. Zook
surprised us all with her hidden talent - she has a beautiful singing voice and
performed "Lift Every Voice" - and we all sang songs of peace, such
as "This Land is My Land" by Woody Guthrie and "Lean on Me"
by Bill Withers. It was a special and memorable occasion.
